The Polish Pottery casserole dish with dimensions of 25 x 19 x 4 cm has a practical volume of approximately 1.9 liters, making it perfect for delicious gratins, lasagnas, or other baked dishes. Its excellent temperature properties make it ideal for cooking dishes that require oven baking.

Ingredients:

  • 800 g waxy potatoes

  • 250 ml cream

  • 100 ml milk

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Gruyère or Emmental)

  • 30 g butter

  • Salt and pepper

  • Nutmeg (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease the Polish Pottery casserole dish with butter.

  2. Slice the potatoes:
Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly (about 2-3 mm thick).

  3. Cream-milk mixture:
Warm the cream and milk in a small pot. Cut the garlic in half and rub the cut sides gently on the bottom of the casserole dish to impart a subtle garlic flavor. Then pour the cream-milk mixture into the pot and heat it gently without boiling. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.

  4. Layer the potatoes:
Arrange a layer of potato slices in the casserole dish, then pour the cream-milk mixture over it. Repeat the process until all the potatoes are used.

  5. Baking:
Evenly distribute the grated cheese on top of the potatoes. Add small knobs of butter over the gratin. Bake the dish in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese forms a golden crust.

  6. Serving:
Remove the potato gratin from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Cut it into portions and serve
